How to care for your

EEFM Pilea

PLANT PROFILE: Pilea Peperomioides

Pilea’s are one of the most sought-after houseplants. They have circular deep-green glossy leaves which is why they have many different nicknames i.e. UFO plant, pancake plant and Chinese money plant.

WATER
Our Pilea’s are in pots that have no drainage so be careful to not overwater as they don’t like to have wet feet.

The best way to navigate when to water them, is to check the moisture of the soil using a pop stick. Carefully place the stick into the soil and if it comes out with moist soil on the stick it has enough water. If you pull it out and no damp soil is on the stick then you can water your plant.

Please keep water to a minimal amount depending on the sunlight you have. If you have bright sunlight please water your plant small amounts every 1-2 weeks. If you have medium sunlight please water your plant small amounts every 2-3 weeks.

Another tip is to watch the leaves, if they look drooped this is a sign of needing more water!

LIGHT
The Pilea loves a bright warm sun but with no direct sunlight. Pilea’s are very responsive to sunlight and will grow quickly if placed in the correct lighting.
To avoid a slanted stem, rotate your Pilea 2-3 times a week.
