Indoor Plants for Mental Well-Being

Here at East End Flower Market we love indoor plants and most of us love filling every corner of our homes with them. They're aesthetically pleasing, they clean our air and provide oxygen.
But did you know that indoor plants are also great for your mental health?
Studies have shown that the simple act of caring for a plant can help to lower blood pressure and calm us down in similar ways to meditation. Watering, pruning and tending to our plant is a welcome distraction from stress and anxieties of work, constant use of technology and general worries.
Researchers have even used horticultural therapy to increase feelings of well-being among people with depression, anxiety, dementia, stress and other mental related illnesses.
The simple and mutually giving relationship between a plant and it's human caretaker provides positive feelings of confidence as you're responsible for the plants well-being and keeping it alive.
I mean, is there anything more exciting than seeing a new leaf pop up on a plant you've spent weeks nurturing?!
We've compiled a list of some of our favourite low maintenance plants
Snake Plant
Devil's Ivy
Monstera
Peace Lily
Boston Fern
Spider Plant
Aloe Vera
Zanzibar
Philodendron
Most of these are available here at East End Flower Market and our knowledgeable florists are more than happy to help you pick out the perfect companion.
So the next time you're feeling a little down or stressed, consider adding a little more greenery into your life and pot it like it's hot!
    With love,
    The EEFM Family
