Plant Profile: Peace Lily

Scientific Name: Spathiphyllum
Native to: Central & South America, Southeast Asia

The Peace Lily is one of the most iconic indoor plants, loved for its lush, deep-green leaves and striking white flowers that symbolise peace and harmony. Not only beautiful, Peace Lilies are also known for their air-purifying qualities, making them a wonderful addition to homes and offices alike.

🌱 Care Instructions

  • Watering: Moderate – Water once the top few centimetres of soil feel dry. Peace Lilies are quick to tell you when they’re thirsty — their leaves droop, but will perk up after a good drink. Avoid letting them sit in water.

  • Sunlight: Low to Moderate – Tolerates low light better than most plants, though it will bloom best in bright, indirect light. Keep out of direct sun to avoid leaf burn.

  • Growth: Moderate – Peace Lilies grow steadily, reaching 40–90 cm tall depending on the variety. Repot every 1–2 years to refresh the soil and encourage healthy growth.

Extra Tips

  • Prefers warmer indoor temperatures (above 16°C) and higher humidity.

  • Wipe leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and keep them glossy.

  • Fertilise every 6–8 weeks in spring and summer to encourage blooms.

  • While beautiful, Peace Lilies are toxic to pets if ingested — keep out of reach of cats and dogs.
