Bloomin’ Book Club: November’s Pick Revealed, Plus Vote for Our December Read

Meet our spooky November read, and help us choose a holiday read for December.

Hello readers, Bonnie here!

We’ve got plenty to share this month: November’s book has been chosen, our bonus read is still up for grabs, and December’s shortlist is ready for your vote. Let’s dive in.

November: The Midnight Estate by Kelly Rimmer

Everyone voted for a thriller/mystery, we had five books in the running, and The Midnight Estate by Kelly Rimmer came out on top.

Fiona Winslow retreats to Wurimbirra, her crumbling family estate, determined to restore it. Then she picks up a book called The Midnight Estate that mirrors her own life, and as the lines between fiction and reality blur, she has to ask how well she really knows her family. It’s a gothic, generation-spanning mystery with a book-within-a-book twist. It’s perfect timing after Halloween to dig into something a bit spookier, so I’m really looking forward to this one.

A reminder: if you’ve got a subscription with us, it will automatically process around the 20th. If this one isn’t your cup of tea, log in before then to skip your next delivery. As always, it will also be available to purchase as a once-off.

Our Bonus Book: Look What You Made Me Do

If November’s pick isn’t for you, don’t forget we have our bonus book! We still have a few copies of Look What You Made Me Do by John Lanchester. If you’d like it as an extra, or even want to swap your subscription delivery for a copy, just email us and we’ll organise it. I’m about to start this one myself, so I’d love to hear everyone’s take on it too.

December:

December will be here before we know it! I’ve put together the shortlist this month, and I’ve gone for a “holiday read” vibe. I don’t quite know how to define the genre, but I’m picturing something I’d read on Boxing Day with the Test Match on in the background, or on a night when the windows are open, a warm summer breeze is drifting in, and I’m just content, you know? So I’ve narrowed it down to books that fit that feeling, and I hope you’ll come along for the ride.

Help Us Choose a Holiday Read

To make sure we can source books in time for the holiday period, voting won’t be open for long, so if you have a preferred December read, please vote soon!

We’ll be sharing a full wrap-up of October’s read, The Names, separately. In the meantime, I’m still mulling it over, so come and tell me what you thought in our Fable group.

Thanks again, everyone, for being part of the book club. We’re so excited to be building this little community of book and flower lovers! Next month, Justine will be curating a shortlist for January and sending an update. As always, if you have any recommendations for future reads, please share them in our Fable group or through the submission box on the book club page on our website.

Happy reading,

Bonnie
