At East End Flower Market, we are fortunate to collaborate with some truly remarkable suppliers who share our passion for quality and sustainability. One of these suppliers is Native Avenue, a fresh cut native flower farm and supply company based in Aldinga, South Australia. We want to introduce you to the incredible duo behind this venture—Dain and Alison McLeavey.
Dain and Alison have been married for 12 years and are proud parents of two beautiful children. Their journey into the world of native flowers began in 2018 when they decided to embrace a more grounded way of life. What started as a dream of off-grid living on their 10-acre property has since blossomed into a thriving flower farm that supplies some of the freshest and most beautiful native flowers to florists across South Australia.
Their location in Aldinga, just 40 minutes from Adelaide’s city centre, offers the perfect backdrop for their flower farm. Nestled between the stunning Port Willunga Beach and the renowned wineries of McLaren Vale, Native Avenue is ideally situated to grow and harvest an array of native blooms that capture the essence of the South Australian landscape.
What truly sets Native Avenue apart is their commitment to local collaboration. Dain and Alison are firm believers in their mission statement: "SA Farms to SA Florists." They work closely with other growers across the Fleurieu region, creating a network of local produce that benefits both the growers and the florists they supply. Instead of viewing others in the market as competitors, they see them as collaborators, strengthening South Australia’s floral industry together.
Over the years, Native Avenue has evolved significantly. From learning the ins and outs of native flower farming to expanding their operations across multiple plantations from Normanville to Mt Pleasant, Dain and Alison have refined their processes to ensure that they provide top-quality flowers while balancing their hectic family life. Their commitment to quality and consistency is evident in every order they fulfill.
At East End Flower Market, we are proud to work with Dain and Alison. Their dedication, passion, and innovative approach to native flower farming inspire us, and we are grateful to have them as part of our network. Whether it’s through a casual chat, a shared laugh, or a new idea to improve their work, Dain and Alison are always looking for ways to connect and grow with the community.
So next time you’re admiring the beautiful native blooms in our store, remember that they’ve come from the hard work and heart of Native Avenue—a family-run farm that truly embodies the spirit of South Australian floriculture. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Dain, Alison, and their ever-expanding flower farm!
