Christmas at EEFM

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at EEFM. If you’ve popped into our little East End oasis recently, you will have noticed the beginning of our Christmas decorations. We’ve swapped out our usual hanging plants in the window for some of our Christmas wreaths that we have lovingly created.   Using wheat, cotton, and strilinga, we have created a pretty unique Christmas wreath. What makes these wreaths extra special this year is that they were created with wheat, which was hand picked by our staff early on a Sunday morning from our dear friend’s farm in the beautiful Barossa Valley.   Knowing exactly where our flowers and products come from is so important to us, which is why...

Devil's Ivy at EEFM

The amazing Devil’s Ivy or Pothos is a beautiful indoor/outdoor plant that can grow by draping down from a higher shelf indoors or can be trained to grow around a stake or winding around a pergola area.   At EEFM we love these plants because they are extremely hardy, making them easy to care for. With there need for little light and little water, this is a plant that could suit nearly anyone and any environment!   Currently at EEFM we sell these beauties in three different sizes/pots;   Our smaller sized Pothos’ have been planted into beautiful grey/blue coloured shelf sitting pots. These are best to be sat on a shelf, windowsill or mantelpiece where they have the space...

Why We Don’t Sell Roses at EEFM

You may have noticed when you come into our shop that we will always have chrysanthemums and daisies, and that we will almost always use these flowers in our bouquets. That is because we have access to them all year round, and these flowers are incredibly long lasting. (See our recent post about chrysanthemums to learn more about them!) If you keep on top of changing your bouquet water every 2nd or 3rd day, your flowers can last up to 2-3 weeks! Long lasting flowers are our main focus here at EEFM. Though we do agree that roses are beautiful and unique, and we wouldn’t mind receiving them from our loved ones, unfortunately they just don’t last as long and...

Peonies

Here at East End Flower Market you’ll already know we specialise in long lasting, unusual flowers; However, we also like to do things a little different here, mix it up and keep things fresh. This week we are pleased to have in store – Peonies! You’ll find them in two stunning colours, a deep coral pink or blush pastel pink.   Originally native to Asia, Southern Europe and parts of western and north America- these being cooler climates. When planted, the peony plant can grow and keep producing flowers for up to 100 years, this in my opinion makes up for the fact they they have such a short season.   This short season with in Australian being between October...

Anthurium flowers

You may have noticed a new flower on the block, one that EEFM have had the pleasure if getting in store for our Valentines day range last year… and guess what! They are back! We are excited to introduce Anthurium flowers.   We were drawn towards the Anthurium flower due to their beautiful colour and style, and of course their heart like shape. In the past we have worked with a much smaller variety.   They come in a beautiful range of colours including Red, Pink, Green, White, Yellow and Orange. This week we have the spectacular Anthurium in forest green with a red centre and yellow pollen.     Native to Northern Mexico, Argentina and parts of the...
